Independent and thorough news, video, and opinion from Silver Persinger with especial focus on Richmond, Virginia City Council, Free Speech, Free Press, and Open Government.
I wish that I was at the City Council meeting last Monday, but I had other things to do so I could not make it. I am a little disappointed that the City Council continued Ordinance 2009-137, again; Locke Lane needs to be renamed. I am also disappointed to see that very few people are being appointed to boards and commissions. Although, there are many people getting reappointed, I wish that we could have new faces joining public service. I hope that more Richmond citizens would apply for boards and commissions [such as the Advisory Board of Recreation and Parks (little bias there)]. William Pace
In many instances, Council is suspending term limits for Boards, Commissions, and Authorities. They cite a lack of qualified applicants and the value of experience of existing board members. I'm with you William, I support appointing new members over reappointments of individuals who have already served two terms.
